Ingredients
● 2 Tablespoons olive oil● 1 medium onion● 4 garlic cloves, minced ● Pinch red pepper flakes ● 1 ½ pounds ground beef● 1 ¾ teaspoons salt● Freshly ground blackpepper● Pinch of groundcinnamon● 2 teaspoons ground cumin● 2 bay leaves● 1 18oz can diced tomatoes ● 1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped● ¼ cup dry white wine● 2 Tablespoons cider vinegar● ½ cup raisins● ½ cup green olives, sliced
Directions

  1.  In a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onion and cook until tender and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook another minute.
  2. Add ground beef, salt and pepper,and saute, breaking up the meat with a spatula. Cook until the liquid has evaporated and the meat sizzles. Add spices and bay leaves and saute for 30 seconds.
  3. Add tomatoes and their juices, sweet potato, wine and vinegar. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Uncover pan and add the raisins and olives. Allow to cook for another 10 minutes. Garnish with cilantro, if using. Serve over calui-rice.
